About Me
My Name is Brian Foster, and I've had diabetes for the last twenty eight years. I’ve always wanted to make a difference in the diabetes community, I just haven't figured out how to do it yet. I went off to college to get an education so I could impact the lives of others with diabetes, yet years later (with a whole lot of letters after my name and the school loans to prove it) I still question If I've done anything for those with diabetes. Now throughout most of my adolescent and adult life I've been writing; writing in journals, on scraps of paper, on anything where I could express my thoughts about diabetes. The trouble was I never shared any of it with anyone. As soon as I heard about blogging (see below), I thought this might be something I could do.
About the GuruSo the Guru is a figment on my imagination (but don't let him know I said that); It's my way of being able to write from two different styles. The character began when I started as sports columnist in college, back then the title of my column was 'Foster's Roster'. Every once in a while I'd want to break out and do a serious article, but by then people always expected the articles to be humorous. That's usually how it is with writers, they get locked into one method of writing (whichever one brings home the paycheck) and stay with that style. Many times when I read different articles from writers, they always write with the same style; serious, humorous, whatever. I thought this would be a creative way to try two different forms of writing, under two different authors, myself, and the guru. Kind of like Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde, only not as creepy.
About The Glucose Guru website
The Glucose Guru is a website for those searching for the lighter side of living with diabetes. Diabetes is a very serious disease and there’s nothing that can be debated on that. But if I have learned anything in my time with disease is that the key to living with diabetes successfully is one that requires the right attitude towards it. This website then is just that, all about attitude. This site is not meant to poke fun at the disease but to shed a little humor on living with Diabetes.
About Blogs
A blog is a website where entries (or pages) are displayed in chronological order. Entries can be about anything, everything, or nothing. Entries can be written but can also be in the form of photographs or video. They can be commentary about news, life, politics, whatever you want.“Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Blogs do have an important difference over websites though in that the readers can actually comment on the stories. So that if someone wants to share a related story or provide additional information they are able to do so. And that's the great things about blogging, the communication.
